Build It Bold is a colourful mixed media course inspired by Day of the Dead art, bursting with creativity, personality and bold ideas. Across 6 weeks, young people will explore drawing, painting, oil pastel, sculpture and 3D making, all leading towards creating their very own 3D flower skull packed with colour, pattern and individuality.
This course is all about responding to a creative brief while developing your own ideas, style and artistic voice. Think bright colours, layered textures, flowers, patterns, skulls with personality and artwork that stands out. Young people will experiment with different materials and techniques, building confidence in their creativity and learning how to turn ideas and designs into a finished 3D piece they can be proud of.
Throughout the project, students will develop skills in planning, experimenting, designing and constructing while learning how artists use colour, symbolism and mixed media to create expressive work. Every skull will be completely unique, reflecting the young person behind it.
This is a fun, hands-on course full of creativity, imagination and new skills, all wrapped into one exciting project.
This course will give you an Arts Award Explore qualification, encouraging young people to respond creatively to a brief while developing confidence, independence and artistic understanding.
