Thread exists to nurture confidence, creativity and quiet self-belief in every young person who walks through the door.
“At Thread, progress isn’t measured by comparison. It’s measured by courage, effort and personal growth. We celebrate the small achievements, the big achievements and everything in between — because every step forward matters.”
Just Do, Be you!
Thread didn’t begin with a business plan.
It began with a question:
What would learning look like if young people felt safe, unhurried and believed in?
I’ve worked with teenagers for years, and I know first-hand how hard learning can feel. The traditional system doesn’t fit everyone. Targets, grades and pressure can quickly define how a young person sees themselves. Thread exists because not every young person thrives in traditional schooling — and that’s not a flaw, it’s a fact. We are all different. At Thread, we don’t just recognise that difference, we celebrate it!
I move around. I fidget. I talk. I sit on tables. I don’t always fit the neat mould either. But I’ve found a way that works for me — and I want young people to know they can find their way too.
There are always other paths.
Paths that are creative.
Paths that are practical and skills-driven.
Paths that build confidence step by step.
Before founding Thread, I was a secondary school art teacher. I saw the power of creativity to unlock confidence and resilience. I also saw how many young people simply needed time, belief and space to grow. I believe true purposeful learning needs time. Time to think. Time to explore. Time to develop as an individual. Time to make mistakes and try again. Growth doesn’t happen through pressure — it happens through patience, belief and steady encouragement.
At Thread:
Young people are seen first and assessed second.
Progress isn’t rushed.
Small steps matter.
Confidence grows through encouragement, not pressure.
We celebrate success not matter how small
We understand we all need support
We are a team
We believe every young person has ability — even if it doesn’t fit neatly into a box. When they feel safe and valued, they find their voice. And from there, they can become the most successful version of themselves — on their own terms.
Thread offers creative courses and recognised qualifications in a calm, supportive environment — because different doesn’t mean less.
It just means another way.
Our small groups allow for focused support and genuine connection. The atmosphere is relaxed but purposeful. We build real-world skills alongside recognised qualifications, giving young people pathways they can use for progression in college, work and beyond.

What Sets Us Apart
Creativity with Purpose
Art isn’t an add-on here, it’s the starting point for developing resilience, communication and recognised qualifications.
Seen Before Assessed
We focus on the individual first, recognising strengths, differences and potential before we ever look at targets or grades.
Slower by Design
We work at a human pace, giving young people the time and space they need to build real confidence, not just meet deadlines.
